                                    -       -

Christmas Holidays have to be the longest time of the year now I've "grown-up". Now with so many kids in the house 24/7 it's one of those times you just wish they were all in school again. We've got eight children living with us now and everyone ends up stepping on each others toes - its not always pretty. Its also the time of year when all the bills come in at once, so juggling money becomes a main priority when I just want to enjoy myself.

Anyway, I'll be doing my course again - three semesters remaining in Web Design. Ive been enjoying it so far and hopefully it will be even better this year considering theyve upgraded it. Over the break Ive been working on my website - tho its not quite finished yet, its coming along okay in my opinion.

Ive also been doing a number of Photoshop tuts that Ive come across here at deviantART. Currently Im working on a line art piece of a sorcerous, which I will later colour. Its been tedious but I am enjoying the results. Hopefully when the kids return to school I'll be able to do much more art as well - at the moment one of them is tap dancing, another is thumping down the hall way, another has the computer at full-ball watching flash cartoons, another playing XBox 360, and another running around the house with pirate action figures making noises representing the midst of battle. It is hardly an atmosphere in which to foster creativity ... well not for me anyway. I just cant wait for the end of the day - which doesnt really set in til about 11pm at the moment, so I can relax and read a book or watch a movie. By that time, Im way to exhausted to even consider getting into any art.

Anyway, Ill be back into my art before too long I expect, when Ive got some headspace in which to produce it. Im thinking for the moment its time to get a break from the house and go for a walk to the shops. Im not overly keen as its likely unbearably hot and I spose I will have to take one of the rug rats with me, just to be fair on my hubby. Still the walk should be nice.

:bye: Until next time friends, :peace:

                                    -       -

Just a quick update because I've got so many projects going all at once that I don't have much time to spend writing massive posts.

Anyway I've been doing my course and it's not too bad - a little dated but it will be getting a major overhaul for the rest of the course next year. So far it hasnt been much of a challenge ... most of the stuff I've done in the past, so hopefully next year will offer something I can actually get my teeth into and learn.

Finally theyve put the solar arrays on the International Space Station (installation was completed on my birthday) which now means it is one of the brightest objects in the night sky - very cool. I'm wondering how many naive people have spotted it and reported a UFO ... cause its really really bright and moves relatively quickly across the sky. I use the Heavens-Above website to find out dates, times, & magnitude for best visibility of the ISS from my backyard. You can print out a star chart specific to your location and you're all set. Give it a go ... the ISS orbits the Earth every 90 mins so it will often pass at a convenient time and date.

Well I best be getting onto one of these projects I mentioned earlier ... no time to relax!

:bye: Until next time friends, :peace:

School Holidays

                                    -       -

It's busy times as usual for our household of nine. School holidays are both pleasure and pain when there's seven kids at home 24/7. Luckily we finished the girls triple bed bunk earlier this month so the house has been sufficiently rearranged to accommodate everyone comfortably. I've submitted a photo of the finished triple bed bunks - Im quite pleased with the result. The girls love their new room ... setting themselves up quite nicely. My little boy is happy to have his own room back also, along with his computer.

The ~Triplets are doing well. They had immunisations a couple of weeks ago, along with the usual early childhood checks. Triplet 1 weighed in at 5.5 kilos, Triplet 2 at 5.4 kilos, and Triplet 3 at 5.3 kilos. Now eight months (5 months corrected), all are certainly very close to crawling ... I would say it will be no more than two weeks before they are darting around in all directions on all fours. Triplet 3 has learnt to hold her bottle by herself, tho it's still alittle heavy for her when full. Triplet 2 likes to poke her tounge out, while Triplet 1 is proficient at pressing the buttons on her musical toys. They are such good little babies ... so easy to please ... and a joyful addition to our family. Check out their latest photographs at the ~Triplets account.

When the kids return to school early next month, I will also be undertaking a new course of study with TAFE. I've chosen the Certificate IV in Information Technology (Website Design), a 12 month course delivered entirely online - which means I can structure my study around activities in the home, and I can finally get a qualification for something I enjoy as a hobby already. Combined with my Workplace Training and Assessment Certificate IV, on completion of this new course I will be qualified to teach Computing and Website Design.

Lastly, you will notice a link at the top of this journal to the 100pic Task. This project is actually a challenge being undertaken by various deviantART members. It will probably take me several years to complete such a task, but I found the idea appealing and inspirational. I think completing this project would be a rewarding and self satisfying experience.

I'm a big fan of *marak24 and noticed his participation in this project. I thought it looked like fun and decided to give it a whirl myself - though it may take me years to complete. If you get a chance, go and check out *marak24's work - his awesome talent is a source of both envy and motivation for me.

The point of this challenge is to test and improve your skill as an artist. After 100 pics who wouldn’t be better.

To participate please visit this journal by ~skeithdestroyer.

Busy Busy Busy!

Journal Entry: Thu Aug 17, 2006, 3:33 AM
:bulletpurple:        :bulletpurple:

Hoping to submit some new pieces to my gallery over the next couple of days. Have been working hard on a few projects over the past few weeks, that I've been neglecting my gallery and friends a little bit. Sorry about that! Decided to visit a few deviations by artists I watch, and have been quite impressed and inspired by the immense talent of my fellow deviantARTists. I've still got a fair few messages to wade through - logged in to find 434 deviations and 83 messges in my deviantWATCH! You lot have been hard at work out there!

Well, *SoulElectronique and myself have been building a triple bunk over the past week and a half ... it's been quite a lot of hard work ... but we are very happy with the result. I will submit a picture of the finished bunk when we finish the stain and varnish ... but for now you can see the work in progress here. No the triple bunk is not for the triplets (they still a bit young for a bed yet) but for their three older sisters. We designed it as we constructed it ... and I think we did rather well on the job, considering this was our first woodworking project.

I created an account for the photographic portfolio of our identical triplet girls back in June ... yesterday I finally added the first shots ... albeit taken a few months ago now! Anyway, you can visit their portfolio at ~Triplets.

I have also been spending a couple of months (way too long) working on my new website for Science Fiction Entertainment Fans. I created the site to extend on my deviantART ~Scifi-Fans club, and offer a wider range of content for those who love scifi. I have included a forum for a wide variety of discussion, along with news, reviews, and much more. I have tried to make the website as interactive as possible and plan on adding heaps more as the membership grows and more ideas crop up. Check it out at Scifi Fanatics and join up if you like what you see ... I think the site has a lot of promise.

Another interest I have been pursuing of late, is writing articles for Blog Critics. I've really enjoyed being part of the "sinister cabal of superior bloggers" but unfortunately, with the triplets and all the other tasks I have undertaken, I havent been able to contribute as many articles as I would like to. Anyway, for those who love to pick on my occasional laziness when writing casually in the forums (those grammar and spelling nazis who avoid the discussion and carry on endlessly about internet speak) ... they can visit Blog Critics and check out the articles I have published so far (author name: PoizonMyst).

Lastly, I have started a "Scifi Fanatics" team at a few of the grid networking projects which utilise the BOINC manager to assist large scientific studies.

If you participate in any of these projects, please join our team and have your cobblestones counted toward our community total. Join the "Scifi Fanatics" BOINC@home team by clicking on a project link below:
