We have folder categories representing all your favourite scifi tv shows and movies, including many specialised titles. When you can't find a group in which to submit your Fan Art from your favourite scifi Movie or TV Show, Scifi-Fanatics fills the void ... because we love scifi!! :alientwo:

Logic dictates that a group will operate at optimum efficiency if members have the freedom to participate in building the community around their needs, so we have opened the gallery and ship's blog to automatically accept contributions from our crew. We encourage members to use the Scifi-Fanatics blog like a group forum, starting new threads for scifi related discussions. Important and popular threads will be stickied in our blog page "Notebook". There is nothing wrong with your computer monitor. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. Hailing frequencies are open and our members are controlling transmission. Please read our Gallery and Blog submission protocols for further information.

Blogs planned for the future include a compilation of Scifi PLZ accounts and emotis, and a database of scifi tv and movie resources on deviantART and the web. Such extensive archives would require much participation from dedicated Scifi-Fanatics - please send a note to PoizonMyst if you would like to contribute toward this mission.

Crossovers are welcome but, as much as we love them, Scifi-Fanatics is a Fan Art group and as such does not accept submissions of scifi concept art and OCs to the gallery. Such artworks are moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas ... a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That's the signpost up ahead. Your next stop: The Affiliate Zone!

One look at our forever expanding list of out-of-this-world affiliates will satisfy all your scifi art needs. Each one of our carefully selected affiliates is related to the scifi genre or science (except for a couple of generic tv and movie lovers) - so locating even more groups to promote your scifi artworks is easier than phoning home. El Espiritu de Gaia

Journal Entry: Sun Oct 31, 2010, 11:35 PM

Hola impresionantes gente!

It's been four weeks since I've been back at :devart: following a long, long hiatus.  I've been having a lot of fun with all the new features and finding new artists to watch.

Firstly I have to give a big  to writer Crimsonpelt who generously donated my one month premium subscription. Your gift was very much appreciated.

My daughters have been urging me to get back into art which is what prompted my return to dA. JezahnaART has offered me an art trade, promising to draw or paint a landscape in exchange for an illustration of the Elemental Earth Spirit. I'm determined to continue working through the 100 pic challenge - even if I never get them all done - and Number 22 on the list is Mother Nature - so this shall be the subject of my trade. From the same challenge, this piece is from one of my fav artists to watch, andrewmar.

Scifi-Fanatics has successfully kicked off with over 40 members in our first month and regular submissions of fanart to our club gallery.  We have some fantastic artists celebrating our favourite Scifi entertainment, and while I have this subby I plan to do a promotional feature to showcase some of the best work by our group members. Look out for that in the near future.

If you would like the chance to have your scifi entertainment fanart featured, please join us at Scifi-Fanatics ... we would love to see you there!

And just a reminder ... if you are feeling generous and would like to donate points towards dazzling prizes for inspirational competitions at Scifi-Fanatics, please head on over to Scifi-Fans. Thanks!

:spotlight-left: Creative Commons :spotlight-right:

:ahoy: I admit that I am an activist for file-sharing and have been pirating entertainment for more than 20 years. I believe artists should embrace new technology and do away with the middle-man.

:iconpiratesstamp1::iconpiratesstamp2:

So in my return to deviantART I've decided to put my money where my mouth is and share my artwork under a creative commons license. You are also able to colour my linearts. Just look for the following symbols in the image descriptions.

:iconcreativelicense1plz::iconcreativelicense2plz:     :iconcolormeplz1::iconcolormeplz2:

Though it is not a requirement, please do let me know if you use my work ... I'd love to see it!

I plan to write a journal in the near future about why I have decided to make my personal art portfolio available under the creative commons license - including a feature of other CC artists on dA also.

In the meantime, please look to the Donation box on my profile page, for several different ways to offer your support if you wish to show your appreciation for my artwork. Thanks.

!Hola! ?Que hay de nuevo?

Journal Entry: Sat Oct 9, 2010, 11:47 PM
Wow, It's been almost four years since I last made a journal entry! So much has changed here at DA that it's going to take me a while to learn how to use all the new features. Even the new message centre is a bit of a mind warp. :spin:

Thanks to all those deviants who, during my lengthy hiatus, viewed my work, commented and faved, or added me to their watch lists. :thanks: It's nice to know that ppl are still enjoying my artworks.  Be assured I still have the art-itch but unfortunately real-life continues to hamper my ability to produce. I have managed to create a couple of small pieces which I hope to upload soon, but not as much as I would have liked to do. Anyway I can't be much bothered with excuses these days so I'll just leave it at that.

So what have I been up to?

Raising children mostly.  My Triplets are almost five years old and still a major handful.  They've all but destroyed the house and everything in it. :faint:

Umm ... I finished my Web Design course.  That was quite fun actually, but sadly out-of-date so I was forced to teach myself css styling and php scripting.

I've also been home-schooling my eldest children for about 18 months now.  This is quite rewarding actually as my children are learning the truth about this world they're living in and not some bullshit propaganda that the govt wants to enslave them with.

As much as I would like to, I haven't written anything for my blog or Blogcritics for a few years now either.  For me writing requires some uninterrupted headspace - of which I have very little - so my favourite passion has fallen by the wayside.  I do however get some small release through spontaneous contributions to Wikipedia and Wikibooks. I love all things wiki.

I've also been learning Spanish for a little over a year now - hence the journal title.  I'm still very much a beginner but I think I could make myself understood if I had to. I am teaching myself using websites, books, and any audio I can get my hands on. I don't know anyone Spanish but I've always wanted to learn the language so I just decided to do it.  I also figure it's a good stepping stone to other languages I'd like to learn - like French. Learning another language has been a very fulfilling experience.

Finally I'd like to mention my new DA group, Scifi-Fanatics, which is the new incarnation of my old DA club Scifi-Fans.  If you are a fan of Scifi television and movies, we would love to see you there. I have enlisted my daughter JezahnaART to help run the group as I am still quite busy most of the time and may not be able visit regularly.

                                    -  :m::y:  :l::i::f::e: -

Christmas Holidays have to be the longest time of the year now I've "grown-up".  Now with so many kids in the house 24/7 it's one of those times you just wish they were all in school again.  We've got eight children living with us now and everyone ends up stepping on each others toes - its not always pretty.  Its also the time of year when all the bills come in at once, so juggling money becomes a main priority when I just want to enjoy myself.

Anyway, I'll be doing my course again - three semesters remaining in Web Design.  Ive been enjoying it so far and hopefully it will be even better this year considering theyve upgraded it.  Over the break Ive been working on my website - tho its not quite finished yet, its coming along okay in my opinion.

Ive also been doing a number of Photoshop tuts that Ive come across here at deviantART.  Currently Im working on a line art piece of a sorcerous, which I will later colour.  Its been tedious but I am enjoying the results.  Hopefully when the kids return to school I'll be able to do much more art as well - at the moment one of them is tap dancing, another is thumping down the hall way, another has the computer at full-ball watching flash cartoons, another playing XBox 360, and another running around the house with pirate action figures making noises representing the midst of battle.  It is hardly an atmosphere in which to foster creativity ... well not for me anyway.  I just cant wait for the end of the day - which doesnt really set in til about 11pm at the moment, so I can relax and read a book or watch a movie.  By that time, Im way to exhausted to even consider getting into any art.

Anyway, Ill be back into my art before too long I expect, when Ive got some headspace in which to produce it.  Im thinking for the moment its time to get a break from the house and go for a walk to the shops.  Im not overly keen as its likely unbearably hot and I spose I will have to take one of the rug rats with me, just to be fair on my hubby.  Still the walk should be nice.

:bye: Until next time friends, :peace:

                                    -  :m::y:  :l::i::f::e: -

Just a quick update because I've got so many projects going all at once that I don't have much time to spend writing massive posts.

Anyway I've been doing my course and it's not too bad - a little dated but it will be getting a major overhaul for the rest of the course next year.  So far it hasnt been much of a challenge ... most of the stuff I've done in the past, so hopefully next year will offer something I can actually get my teeth into and learn.

Finally theyve put the solar arrays on the International Space Station (installation was completed on my birthday) which now means it is one of the brightest objects in the night sky - very cool.  I'm wondering how many naive people have spotted it and reported a UFO ... cause its really really bright and moves relatively quickly across the sky.  I use the Heavens-Above website to find out dates, times, & magnitude for best visibility of the ISS from my backyard.  You can print out a star chart specific to your location and you're all set.  Give it a go ... the ISS orbits the Earth every 90 mins so it will often pass at a convenient time and date.

Well I best be getting onto one of these projects I mentioned earlier ... no time to relax!

:bye: Until next time friends, :peace:

It's busy times as usual for our household of nine.  School holidays are both pleasure and pain when there's seven kids at home 24/7.  Luckily we finished the girls triple bed bunk earlier this month so the house has been sufficiently rearranged to accommodate everyone comfortably.  I've submitted a photo of the finished triple bed bunks - Im quite pleased with the result. The girls love their new room ... setting themselves up quite nicely.  My little boy is happy to have his own room back also, along with his computer.

The Triplets are doing well.  They had immunisations a couple of weeks ago, along with the usual early childhood checks.  Triplet 1 weighed in at 5.5 kilos, Triplet 2 at 5.4 kilos, and Triplet 3 at 5.3 kilos.  Now eight months (5 months corrected), all are certainly very close to crawling ... I would say it will be no more than two weeks before they are darting around in all directions on all fours.  Triplet 3 has learnt to hold her bottle by herself, tho it's still alittle heavy for her when full.  Triplet 2 likes to poke her tounge out, while Triplet 1 is proficient at pressing the buttons on her musical toys.  They are such good little babies ... so easy to please ... and a joyful addition to our family.  Check out their latest photographs at the Triplets account.

When the kids return to school early next month, I will also be undertaking a new course of study with TAFE.  I've chosen the Certificate IV in Information Technology (Website Design), a 12 month course delivered entirely online - which means I can structure my study around activities in the home, and I can finally get a qualification for something I enjoy as a hobby already.  Combined with my Workplace Training and Assessment Certificate IV, on completion of this new course I will be qualified to teach Computing and Website Design.

Lastly, you will notice a link at the top of this journal to the 100pic Task.  This project is actually a challenge being undertaken by various deviantART members.  It will probably take me several years to complete such a task, but I found the idea appealing and inspirational.  I think completing this project would be a rewarding and self satisfying experience.

I'm a big fan of andrewmar and noticed his participation in this project. I thought it looked like fun and decided to give it a whirl myself - though it may take me years to complete.  If you get a chance, go and check out andrewmar's work - his awesome talent is a source of both envy and motivation for me.

The point of this challenge is to test and improve your skill as an artist. After 100 pics who wouldn't be better.

To participate please visit this journal by skeithdestroyer.

:star: The Rules :star:

1.) Make 100 pics, each pic having a theme listed below. Each pic should have ONE and only ONE theme to it, for it to count.

2.) No time limit so have fun

3.) The main picture should be drawn but not limited to. for all fair purposes, people are allowed to use their paint programs and photo shop to create the pic.

4.) Pics should be of own artistic ability. You may not edit photos, or break any other rules set out in the deviantART etiquette policy. Your pics can be anything from sketches and doodles to great master pieces. Just have fun with it.

5.) The list below is to be placed somewhere in your journal for others to see that......
   a.)You are in the challenge
   b.)What you have completed

6.) Make sure to update this list and check off what is done and make a link to the pic

7.) In the comments for your art work note if it is part of the list and what ONE theme it is.

Now the good part. CHALLENGE YOUR FRIENDS.

Hoping to submit some new pieces to my gallery over the next couple of days.  Have been working hard on a few projects over the past few weeks, that I've been neglecting my gallery and friends a little bit.  Sorry about that!  Decided to visit a few deviations by artists I watch, and have been quite impressed and inspired by the immense talent of my fellow deviantARTists.  I've still got a fair few messages to wade through - logged in to find 434 deviations and 83 messges in my deviantWATCH!  You lot have been hard at work out there!

Well, SoulElectronique and myself have been building a triple bunk over the past week and a half ... it's been quite a lot of hard work ... but we are very happy with the result.  I will submit a picture of the finished bunk when we finish the stain and varnish ... but for now you can see the work in progress here.  No the triple bunk is not for the triplets (they still a bit young for a bed yet) but for their three older sisters.  We designed it as we constructed it ... and I think we did rather well on the job, considering this was our first woodworking project.

I created an account for the photographic portfolio of our identical triplet girls back in June ... yesterday I finally added the first shots ... albeit taken a few months ago now!  Anyway, you can visit their portfolio at Triplets.

I have also been spending a couple of months (way too long) working on my new website for Science Fiction Entertainment Fans.  I created the site to extend on my deviantART Scifi-Fans club, and offer a wider range of content for those who love scifi.  I have included a forum for a wide variety of discussion, along with news, reviews, and much more.  I have tried to make the website as interactive as possible and plan on adding heaps more as the membership grows and more ideas crop up.  Check it out at Scifi Fanatics and join up if you like what you see ... I think the site has a lot of promise.

Another interest I have been pursuing of late, is writing articles for Blog Critics.  I've really enjoyed being part of the "sinister cabal of superior bloggers" but unfortunately, with the triplets and all the other tasks I have undertaken, I havent been able to contribute as many articles as I would like to.  Anyway, for those who love to pick on my occasional laziness when writing casually in the forums (those grammar and spelling nazis who avoid the discussion and carry on endlessly about internet speak) ... they can visit Blog Critics and check out the articles I have published so far (author name: PoizonMyst).

Lastly, I have started a "Scifi Fanatics" team at a few of the grid networking projects which utilise the BOINC manager to assist large scientific studies.

 HELLO FRIENDS!!</em>

It's been quite some time since I last made a journal entry - and have I got some news to tell! :blahblah:

In the last few days I've been uploading some old artworks, which I had prepared for submission in the days before I was rushed away from my home ... to give birth to triplets! :ambulance: I'm planning to upload a few more older pieces, over the next few days, before I submit some photos of the babies.

Who cares about the art Poizon!?! What about those babies?

Okay then ... here's the goss! :XD:

My naturally conceived identical triplet girls were delivered by emergency C-Section on January 25th 2006 ... at 28 weeks gestation. I had developed advanced pre-eclampsia, and due to a fuck-up in communication between doctors and nurses, the C-Section had to be conducted under general anesthetic.

At first I was really scared ... thought I wouldnt wake up again ... but in the end I am rather grateful I was completely out to it.  I was shaking so much, by the time I entered surgery, that I just wanted to be put under ASAP. ^^; The operating theatre was packed out - twenty people were required to make this delivery.  I could not have a support person with me, so those 20 people were ALL hospital staff.  Just an idea of what was required ... there were three anesthetists just for me, and three people attending each baby.  My obstrician, and her medical team, were absolutely brilliant.  I was very impressed and reassured by their competence, experience, and confidence.

Everyday SoulElectronique and myself value our good fortune ... The babies were very healthy from day one and were only on ventilation and C-Pap (helps to keep the lungs slightly inflated) for 3 days.  They remained in humidicribs until they reached 1800 grams.  The girls were discharged from hospital at 38 weeks gestation, returning home on April 5th with the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Birth Details (Sorry, I can't provide their names)

:aww: Triplet 1:
Birth Weight:  1020 gms / 2lb 4oz
Time of Birth: 10.45pm

:aww: Triplet 2:
Birth Weight: 915 gms / 2lb 1/2 oz
Time of Birth: 10.45pm

:aww: Triplet 3:
Birth Weight:  870 gms/1lb 15oz
Time of Birth: 10.46pm

So how have we been handling having three little bubbas at home?  It's nowhere near as bad as I thought it was going to be. :phew: I count my lucky stars that they were not my first tho ... as my previous parenting experience has helped a great deal.  So my household has been all about routine, routine, routine ... and everything runs quite smoothly.  They started sleeping thru almost every night, about three weeks ago, and we just make sure we go to bed straight after their last night time feed. Sure, they have their restless moments, but they are generally really good lil girls.  I'm so happy to be home with my family again (after 3 1/2 months away) and absolutely estatic about our three new additions. :excited:

:bye: Well ... Until next time, friends :peace:

Away from Home

So Ive moved away from my family closer to a big city hospital more capable of dealing with the birth of triplets.  Hopefully I can make it to the middle of February at least, which will make them approximately 32 weeks.
I wont be logging in much ... if at all ... cause I gotta get online via Internet Access cafes and libraries which can get rather expensive.  Ive decided to keep up the picture of the 19 week scan as it is the only one which has all three babies in one shot.  They are now too big to fit them all into one image.  According to the Doc, at the moment everything is progressing fine ... so lets hope it continues that way.  Hopefully I will be able to get online sometime after they are born and let you know how everything went.

Baby Scans

Sat Dec 3, 2005, 6:34 PM
Reanimated Residue Blog Space

Ive not been round much lately ... though I do pop in and have a read of some journals just to keep up with the groovy goings on of my fellow deviantART pals.  I"ve been visiting a couple of different forums for a change of pace ... one dedicated to expectant mums of multiples (which is all very friendly and informative) ... and one not so placid called The Coffee Lounge.  The mods there are pretty relaxed so the atmosphere is great and things can get pretty crude at times, but it's all in fun.  Theyve got a wide variety of subjects to discuss and though it's only relatively new, theres always something happening.  The people there seem to be addicted to the net and CL-F so there's always someone to chat to.  I highly reccommend it for those looking for somewhere else to hangout sometimes.

So I promised I would put up a shot from the ultrasound scans which show the three babies.  This one was taken three weeks ago now when I was 19weeks.  I should be going for another scan in a couple of weeks to keep an eye on how the little ones are growing.  Its certainly been a trying time on my body and Im becoming less mobile by the day.  Hoping to stay at home with my family until christmas, but I plan to go to Sydney and stay with my parents for the birth.  Doc wants me to leave straight after christmas ... he says if I stay any longer it will make everyone very nervous.  Im already nervous about the whole thing ... hoping my little body can carry these bubbas to a safe birth date.

OMG ... A Pair and A Spare!!

Tue Nov 15, 2005, 3:52 AM
Reanimated Residue Blog Space

So as I was saying last week ... Im rather large for dates and doc sent me along to get an ultrasound to check the possibility of twins - which I went and had done yeasterday.
Well they accidently booked me in for a first trimester scan, and the young sonographer looked alittle daunted at the prospect of having to scan for possible twins in 2nd trimester.  Of course i was eager for any info he could giv me - but, as is the norm, he said he couldnt tell me anything because he was neither a radiologist or a doctor.  Anyway, having had multiple ultrasounds with my three previous pregnancies, I knew what I was looking at ... I saw it plain as day and said to him, "Well I can see two in there." to which he replied, "Well yes, you have twins ... I can say that because you figured it out for yourself." and then he ran off quickly to get a senoir staff member to perform a 2nd trimester scan.  Poor fella ... apparently he was still studying ... so twins was a bit out of his league.
Well the senior sonographer places the little scanning device thingy on my belly and says, "Thats not twins."
I say, "What are you talking about? Unless its got two heads ... I know I saw twins."
She replies, "Well, when I go down here ..." she moves the scanning thingy to the bottom of my belly, "There's one head, yes?"
"Okay ..." I say.
"But when I come up here...." she moves the scanning thingy to the top of my belly, "There's another two heads.  Look here ... there's one, two, three sacs. Youve got Triplets."
Im like :omfg: ... then Im like :| Sure ......
I figured maybe she was just seeing it wrong - maybe from one angle she was seeing one head - but from another angle she was simply seeing both heads together .... but nope, I was simply in denial at this stage.  Just so she would be believed (both by me and the doctor) she looked around abit more for a shot with all three babies ... and then I saw it, obvious as could be ... three perfect little backbones.  At this stage Im absolutely fascinated ... there were arms and legs everywhere - and because of this, determining gender is really an unrealistic aspiration (though we did try, unsuccessfully, but will try again during subsequent scans).  Im thinking how the fuck can they all fit in there ... bear in mind that when Im not pregnant I weigh 50 kg and Im 173cm tall ... theres NOT MUCH ROOM IN THERE.  And Im thinking How the fuck this could have happened (well I know how ... but I mean how?!?).  At risk of showing my ignorance I thought this sort of thing only happened with IVF ... and obviously, with 3 children already, Im not an IVF patient.  Neither SoulElectronique or myself have any multiples in our family lines - Its truely bizarre!
So thats the new news ... Im now officially a "HOM" pregnancy ... which stands for the very snobby term "Higher Order Multiples" - freaky stuff!!!  Explains alot I must say ... why Ive been so damn hungry and why, at nearly 5 months I can hardly walk.  Explains all the complaining eh? lol.  Oh dear, so much previous planning has just become obsolete ... new thoughts about what this actually entails drift into my mind every minute.  I am truely estatic and stunned all at once.  OMG 6 children all up - thats crazy!!! Wow Wow Wow!!! :D
Anyway when I get the ultrasounds back from the doc I'll see if I can scan a couple of the better shots and post em in my journal for you all.

Until next time :peace:

Neglected

Sat Nov 5, 2005, 9:19 PM
Reanimated Residue Blog Space

Oh Dear, Ive been so naughty neglecting my Journal and neglecting my deviantART buddies.  As usual, sorry people if Ive not got around to viewing your most resent deviations and dropping comments - I logged in the other day to find 267 message centre items ... and only 3 of them were forum replies!  I've spotted some great pieces in my watch centre, so expect comments on your best works in the near future.

As for my pregnancy, well things are coming along a bit more than expected.  A month ago, to look at me, you would not have thought me pregnant at all ... but now Im quite large.  Larger than Ive ever been at full term with my three previous babies - and Ive still gotta wait til April next year!!  So I dragged myself off to the doc to make sure things were going okay ... he's booked me in for a scan ... and he tells me there may be a possibility of twins!! :clone: Noone in my family, or SoulElectronique's family have had twins, so if it's true it's certainly unexpected.  I think the possibility of twins is actually a very exciting one ... something totally different to my previous childbirth experiences ... so Im really quite happy about it - but Im trying not to get my hopes up - just waiting for the scan.  I'll let you all know the results when I get them - It could just turn out Im pregnant with a rather big baby. :O

I'm feeling somewhat better more often these days which is good - I really want to get back into life - but unfortunately Im feeling so heavy I cant hardly do anything - this is gonna be a looong pregnancy.  Im feeling pangs of motivation to scan some of my older works which arrived with my things from the storage shed a while ago - hopefully this will come into fruition soon - I spent a good 4 hours sorting the stuff out just the other day and getting everything put into its rightful place around the home.

Anyway until next time friends :peace:

That explains it

So I finally got up the courage and energy to visit the doctor and find out why I feel ill all day, every day.  Even though I really already knew why, I spose I was just avoiding the obvious, or hoping that if I didnt make it 'official' it might not really be true.

Anyway, I'm expecting another baby in April next year - so that makes number 4 now!!  OMG I never thought I would ever have four kids ... I thought maybe two ... and I never thought Id start having children til later in life ... like after Id established a career or sumthing ... that id start having kids around this age, rather than 9 years ago.  Well, life never does turn out as expected does it - and hey if it did, well I wouldnt have the 3 beautiful children I have now - even if they are being incredibly difficult of late.

Well just last week my middle child (lets call her No 2) started preschool, as a place opened up for the rest of the year.  This is pretty fortunate as she was not emotionally ready to start school at the beginning of this year, but is definately ready now so this should be a good experience for her and will have her truely prepared to start in grade one next year.  Baby boy (No 3) will start preschool next year, so the house will be rather empty for a couple of months until No 4 joins us.  That will prob be a good thing - a good time for us to rest up well and get prepared.  Should work out good with the other three in school, we will be able to concentrate on looking after No 4 wthout too many other distractions - hopefully will make for a calm experience this time around. lol pfft sure.

In other news, I am going to be doing some website design for the local IT centre.  Coolies as Ill have total creative control, but unfortunately, as usual i probably wont be getting paid for my work.  Oh well, whats new.  Anyway, Im just waiting on the email from 'my boss' so I can get started.  Im actually quite excited about the opportunity as I would normally do such work for free anyway, for friends and such, whereas this is an opportunity to produce something the public may actually look at. lol.

Okay, so apologies again to all those whose work Im yet to comment on in my watch list.  I will get around to it eventually ... I knocked off 150 the other night and had only 80 left to look at, but alas Im back up to 120.  Nevertheless, as I said, I will get around to it eventually - Ive spotted some fab pieces in my thumbnails which I would like to put some thought into the comments I will write on them ... so if youve not yet had a comment on your latest submissions ... I hope you can understand why ... and I will comment - even if Im a bit a late.

Til next time friends! :peace:

Oh dear its been so long since I made an entry, and I apologise.  Unfortunately Im not all that well and so Ive not been online all that much - Relaxing in front of the tele mostly, or sleeping.  Sorry that Ive not left any comments on the artworks or journals of people Im watching, as I normally would ... though Im sure you understand.  Hopefully Ill be back in action someday soon.

Happy Birthday To Me - Woohoo

Fri Sep 16, 2005, 3:09 AM
Reanimated Residue Blog Space

Ahhh I love being on the net ... I used to have a connection about two years ago, but then had to give it up when I moved.  Ive been on again now for about 6 months.  Anyway, I love it when I think of some meal I havnt had in ages and can get the traditional recipe so that I can make it here at home.  Especially now that I live in a town without a Chinese restraunt - one of my family's choice for a night out - I can now make all the same things at home - mmmm yum cha. :hungry:
Well, not much to report in this entry ... twas my birthday two days ago, which simply means Im getting older.  I had chocolate cake topped with whipped cream and strawberries :cake: and the fish tank is part of my birthday present - even tho the fish keep dyiing.  Tried three clown loaches and they was going just fine - but we woke up this morning to yet another depressing site - we still got three cat fish tho.  Planning not to put any more fish in for at least a month til we figure out what the hell we are doing wrong.  Never had so much trouble establishing a tank before
What else did I get? Um a new artsy hangbag, a watch, and some groovy clothes.  A funky pair of fluffy slippers, and a DVD of Mercury Rising - and oldie but a goodie - Ive always been a bit of a Bruce Willis fan ... even used to own his album.
Closely associated to my sickness, Ive been having really vivid dreams lately.  Last night in particular, made me wake up pretty shitty in the morning.  Everything was going fine ... I was in some undercover operation where I was helping to bust these rampant shoplifters, while at the same time scoring myself some pretty funky jewelry lol.  My dad was the commander of the whole operation and he was very proud of me, while at the same time I remember constantly trying to hide all the jewelry Id knicked.  Then all of a sudden the sting was over and I was now a teacher standing up on stage in front of all these students.  I dunno we were organising some school play, a sport carnival, or something, cause most of the school were there.  We'd missed the break for lunch so I sent all the kids off to the toilet and told them all to come straight back.  While we waited, the faculty and I were backstage eating from a huge box of chalk lollies - I could even taste em.  Then suddenly I heard a loud bang outside ... I went out to look and at first I thought a plane had crashed in the distance because I could see a trail of smoke falling through sky to the ground.  Then I noticed several trails of smoke, hundreds, and it became obvious to me that this was no plane crash.  People were running towards the smoke trails, and I remember screaming to my friend, "Im not running towards the bombs!".  Then the wind started ... people began to realise what was happening because the bombing had got closer and you could see the missiles falling from the sky.  I wanted to get my blanket hanging on the fence, but the wind was so strong I couldnt walk against it.  I remember being pissed off because I hardly ever visit the city simply because Im scared of terrorist attacks or the start of an inevitable war in which we will most definately be caught up in ... and I was thinkning "Damn, I was going home to the country in two days".
So thats why I woke up in a shitty mood.  Wasnt that exciting?

Church Organ

Well, I thought my luck had truely run its course when some shit went down last week ... I dunno.  Mixed range of events in the end I spose.  Anyway, yep Im still sick ... one day Ill bother to get my arse to the doctor and get an examination, but Ive already got an idea of whats wrong, so doc aint gonna be much help.  Anyway, when I find out for sure, Ill write it here.
SoulElectronique went out on Monday and bought a new fish tank.  Weve decided this one is going to be kept in our room.  We bought all the gadgets and planning on a tropical tank this time round, we've purchased a heater also.  All set up and ready to go, we set our new little fishys free in their new home - needless to say we woke up this morning and two had passed onto fish heaven.  The water was very cloudy ... apparently part of the initial cycling stage which cant be avoided ... but maybe also amonia.  We changed some of the water and put our old $2 'Crazy Clarks' filter in there today, which seems to have improved the condition of the water.  Strange how a $2 filter works better than a spiffy $40 one - but alas ... what ever works in the end.
Also sent young Mr Puddy Cat off to the vet this week, to become uh ... Ms Puddy Cat lol.  He was back to us the same day, but he's still alittle forlorn from the experience.  He now likes to sleep in the bathroom sink - which he didnt do before ... curious change.
Um what else? Oh thats right ... SoulElectronique also came across quite a bargain a few days ago, coming home carrying an old church organ with one of the neighbours.  Apparently the neighbour had got the organ for free a few years ago, and it had provided much pleasure to his kids, but now they no longer needed it.  He said we could have it for free because some of the keys didnt work.  Well, tinker tinker ... a fav pasttime of SoulElectronique ... he opened it up and played around with the insides ... and now we have a perfectly operational keyboard.  The kids are having a great time with it ... and Ive been printing up sheet music and lessons on the internet for them.  Pretty cool - I love free.
Oh yeh, I got my grandfather box ... excellent stuff.  Unfortunately my sketch books werent included, but a few old portfolios of art works and photos are there ... so Ill be scanning some of that in eventually to put up here.
Hmmm ... I think thats all for this week.  I dunno ... anyway, Im thinking I might go and feast out in the kitchen for a while.  Til next time. :peace:

Lucky Dip

An interesting week .... still sick as all hell, but Ive also been very lucky at the same time.  Ive never really been all that lucky in my life, but hey, seems Im having a little run of it lately without even trying - which is nice.
So I suppose it all started when I won a three month subscription on deviantART's birthday simply by being in the right place at the right time.  Actually, it may have started before that when I was in the right place at the right time to capture Tigga76's 2500 pageviews kiriban - also winning me three months sub, which Tigga76 added to my account this week. Thankies Tigga76! :D  On his quest for world domination, Tigga76 creates some really nice graphic design work, especially in web page development, so maybe drop by and visit his gallery.
:icontigga76:

As I was saying in my last journal, SoulElectronique bought me a heap of pressies in an effort to distract me from feeling ill - this came about due to a sudden influx of cash which wasnt really expected for another month - so I suppose thats pretty lucky, and its always fun to spend cash.  I decided we needed a microwave, so I went and bought one of those too along with a few other bits and pieces for around the house.
Ive also got some fantastic unexpected news for my relatives ... which though you lot may not be interested, Im gonna babble on about it anyway.
Over four years ago I was forced into putting all my furniture into storage while my family and I tried to stabilze our living arrangements.  Long story short - we were living in a three bedroom house, but were house invaded by our neighbours and the police did nothing about it because there were apparently no witnesses (I expect other neighbours were just frightened of being targeted also).  Because of the damage done to the house during the invasion and a break-in which followed soon after, we were unable to get a reference from our landlord and were living in caravans and motels for four years.
Being the righteous couple that SoulElectronique and myself can be, we often found ourselves in legal conflict with caravan park owners and being moved on - needless to say, it's an expensive exercise constantly moving because of shonky landlords - but we made sure we cost some of them a few thousand dollars along the way.  One landlord was fined $3700 because of faulty electricity in our van - the earth was sharing neutral making the whole caravan live - so she evicted us when our lease ran out.  We also took on another landlord and his faulty electricity affecting several vans in the park - which cost him a cool $10,000 to fix.  Then I saw him and his ex-cop manager friend assault another female tenant in the park.  I made it obvious that I would stand witness to the assault in court.  Before the case went to court, he managed to get us thrown out of the park with an 'emergency' residential hearing because he felt 'threatened' - what a joke. :sarcasm:  Finally we got a house, and settled happily in a tiny town in outback Queensland.
Anyway, moving all the time, like I said, does very little for your finances and eventually we fell behind in our storage payments.  I hadnt contacted the shed for ages, they had my phone number, but I hadnt changed my address, and eventually they put my things up for sale.  I was pretty upset when I found out, because not only was there a heap of sentimental items which I had lost (including a silky-oak blanket box made by my grandfather for my 21st, jewelry he had given me when I was born, his WWII medals, and jewelry which I had inherited from my great grandmother), they had also tried to do the dirty on me by selling my things before the minimum time frame, and only getting $800 for what was $30000 worth of goods, along with numerous other little technicalities which legally voided his claim.  In this instance, legally, they should claim their dues and hand the surplus over to the public trust.  This of course, did not happen, and I am hours away in another state, unable to take them to court.  Anyway, they had put a box of personal items away (from what I understood was photos, documents etc and maybe also the medals) which I decided I would get couriered up with our recent cash influx.  After receiving legal advice to pretend I would take them to court if they refused to supply me with a receipt detailing how they came to get $800 for my items, I rang to inquire about my personal items and also started throwing a few legal obligations their way.  The manager got really riled, "You send me a list of what was in there" he said.  I laughed "Thats not how it works mate. The Act requires YOU to send ME an inventory of the items sold, and a statement of account." ... "I've followed all the requirements in the act" he claimed.  "Is that the Warehouseman's Liens Act of 1937, or your own act?"  I retorted (Im not one for quick wit) :| "You've been a bad customer, I dont have to give you anything," he said.  Well hey, fair enough, I did have arrears but they were now paid, along with over $3500 cash I had paid over the years anyway, only to have the stuff sold.  "The Act requires you to inform the 'grantee of the goods' at the time of deposit.  Did you send them registered notice of sale?" I inquired.  Well this threw him alittle.  As I said earlier, we had been forced into putting our stuff in storage, and this was not done by us, but rather by a government department (another long story I may tell some time in the future) who had paid for the removals and first two weeks of storage until we decided we would pay the weekly rent for the shed.  "I dont have to discuss this with you anymore. Get a lawyer to contact me." he said .... "I have seen a lawyer, thats where I got this information from.  I've got six years to take this court if I choose.  You are required to send me a statement of account, and if you sent me an inventory prior to sale like you say you did, then it shouldnt be too difficult to put it in an envelope and send it to me."  I informed him. "Get your lawyer to write me a letter."  he said, and hung up - the nervous sign of a not-so-well adjusted argument there, often played out by those who are pressured into explaining their misconduct.  Well, I was pretty pissed off.  I'd have to travel to NSW to get a lawyer to take this up, and that was not about to happen.  SoulElectronique decided to play the good guy by ringing again, and at the very least inquiring about delivery of my personal items.  They reciprocated and about a week later we got a call back detailing what was to be sent.  Low and behold, there were now three boxes of personal items.  One of these boxes was the silky-oak blanket box (in itself worth over $1200) and inside that, my jewelry box.  I was estatic!  I couldnt beleive it.  Six months earlier when I had called and found my stuff was sold ... the blanket box was gone.  The woman had told me flat out that it was sold.  Now all of sudden it had reappeared!  Im like, well if youve got that, then youve saved yourself from court.  I couldnt care less about much else in the shed - it was all replaceable, bar the blanket and jewelry boxes.
I think that because they had never heard from me by the time the stuff went to sale, they decided to keep a few items - and to add to my little conspiracy theory - I think my threats actually worked for once because the blanket box would not have been accounted for on the receipt of sold items.  I dont think I could have arranged things better, even if I had known my stuff was for sale.  If I had contacted them about the stuff then, the blanket box would have been sold, and I didnt want the money - I wanted the box.  Im so excited to be getting my things that I have not had for four years - they should be arriving next week some time.  Its great to have some good news for my parents and grandfather, considering Im in so much shit with them for losing that box.  I lie awake at night thinking about what other little treasures the storage shed kept for me, not trying to get too hopeful ... but I expect there'll be family photos of course, but I wasnt expecting my jewelry box, and maybe I'll get back my old art sketchbooks, and knitted jumpers and crochet blankets made by my grandmother that I used to keep in the box, as well as art and current affairs photography I took - Nelson Mandela, Hothouse Flowers, Gulf War Protests etc.  I never cried over losing my lounge, dining table, washing machine, bookshelves (I do feel loss over my huge library of books, but alas Im grateful for what I am getting back) ... but rather these sentimental items that can never be replaced.  I cant imagine what else would be in the three boxes ... THREE BOXES!! ... I cant wait!!
Oh dear, if youre still reading this, OMG Im so sorry to bore you ... lol ... Im just so very happy about it.  And I feel incredibly lucky to be getting these things back.  Things I thought were gone forever.  Yippee!!!  :w00t!:
Well, time to write to Pop, send him some family photos and tell him the good news.  Til next time all, Peace. :peace:
